    Hi Scott I find photographing birds very frustrating at times so needed a break and have just started watching your channel again and I think that in the world of today we are fortunate that we are still able to get out and enjoy nature and that is what its all about just getting out and having fun. Don't take all this video stuff to seriously, it's nice of you to show your outings to others and if we learn something on the way from you than that"s great if not than so be it. I enjoy watching your outings and I am sure others do as well and seeing all the other wildlife that we do not have in our own country is a bonus. You see there must be others like myself that watch your channel due to not having anyone else to go out photographing with so just keep on marching on and don't be concerned about the good and the bad days while you are out as we all have them. Keep up the good work my friend. Cheers Glenn v from NZ

      Hi Glenn, thank you so much for your kind words. I have to say I am really finding out how difficult it is when you can't get out and take images at the minute. I am in the midst of changing camera systems and have been without a camera for over a week now, according to the law of sod I am constantly seeing image opportunities 😂 Interestingly there is a fascinating story associated with the thumbnail of this video that lead to me helping the police with there enquiries!! Maybe a story for another video!! Surface to say I will be back out as soon as my new gear turns up! All the best 👍👌

    Hi Scott and thanks for posting this video, I have just recently changed from my NEX6 to the a6400 so am still getting use to all the extras I have also purchased a Tamron 18-300mm and for the bird pics I use a Tamron 150 - 500mm. I noticed that you had your camera on 6MP is this what you normally would use as I took some bird pics the other day using 6MP and found them rather sharp once I seen them on the Desktop screen. Cheers Glenn v from NZ

    • @scotttilleyphotography
      @scotttilleyphotography 4 дня назад

      Hi Glenn, I just had a look at the video to see where I refer to the 6mp. The only instance I can see is on the first menu where the Jpeg line is showing 6mp. To be honest this is not really relevant because I always shoot in RAW. Shooting in RAW format means you can make changes to the file and it will not lose quality. However, if you shoot JPEG these will lose detail every time you edit them. They also add in camera sharpening which is what you might be seeing. RAW files don't do this which is important because when editing sharpening should be the last thing you do to an image and it should be sharpened depending on its use (online, print etc) Hope this helps! 👍

    Deciding between this and the a9. I think being able to crop heavily and still get a printable a3+ photo is appealing to me.

    • @scotttilleyphotography

      Being able to crop aggressively and still have usable images is a big advantage with this camera although in some situations the higher frames per second is useful on the A9 series. 👍

    Great video - I think it would have been helpful to see how you adjust settings in real time. Obviously you aren't using the 6400 to record the blog, so maybe have whatever you use for recording video set up on you while you are on the platform using the tripod and talk to us about the settings you are changing as you change them. I mean, if you want to teach us, that would be ideal (at least for me!). Eager to learn more from you - thanks!

      Great suggestion! I will look to incorporate more of this going forward. One of the things to remember is that these cameras are highly customizable and what might work for me might not work for you. But giving viewers the opportunity to see how I do it is a good idea👌👍

    Sadly almost 700,000 birds are killed by Wind Turbine Collisions each year in the UK, this includes some very rare birds. Shouldn't wind turbines be fitted with some kind of bird alarm that frightens birds away, how long are we going to allow this carnage. 🤔

    Good call Scott it has been awful recently .Nice to hear from you . I had to do an interview in a hide recently with 40 mile an hour gusts outside . But I then did have some of my best shots of Red Deer on Exmoor last week so you just have to keep going . Something always turns up for he who waits long enough. Persistence and patience is the key to wildlife photography 👍

      Thanks Mark, I think it's when you have a run where even when you have done everything right outside influences then proceed to ruin your day! The number of times recently I have been set up with my subject in front of me only to have people appear in an obscure location with no rime or reason to why they should be there😂 The laughing emoji is also crying. Hopefully my roe deer encounter has broken the cycle! All the best mate👍👌

    Hi Scott, it happens my friend and I totally get where you are coming from! My channel has gone from a massive high to an all time low so it's the RUclips game we Vloggers play, as long as you still enjoy being in Nature that's the main thing! One day things happen, the next day it's pretty bad! Loving the sounds of the birds especially the ChiffChaffs. Keep it going buddy, although I don't always get to see your videos as regularly as I'd like I always like your diverse content. All the best Rich 👊

      Thanks Richard, I think it's good to have a reality check every now and again to remind us what's important. But this last couple of months have been the worse I can remember. I am hopeful that I am now back on track and with trips to Aberdeenshire and Skye in the next two months it should be pretty exciting. All the best mate!🙏👍

    I know exactly how you feel. Living in Fenland, mostly flooded for months, got out today to Ouse Washes, Welches Dam and photographed swallows for first time this year! Always a treat to see their arrival. Change of wind direction hopefully bring in more species. Pleased to hear you about again

      Thanks Brian, nice to know it's not just me!! I can't ever remember it being this bad but going out with a defeatist attitude to start with really didn't help. Hopefully much more to come now. We've had a few swallows for a couple of weeks but not in numbers yet! 👌👍

    great production sir, I enjoyed watching & learning with you. One little point re why or how we shoot, our choices aren't always of preference; I'd like to do somethings but can't due ability... shaky hands my issue, aging eyesight another. So choosing certain functional aspects is not always about preference, though I'd like it to be. I bought a camera without stabilization (affordability, I'd have preferred a camera with stabilization but couldn't find one to compare with my other functional interests), so I have to adapt that for my preferred use; a stand, tripod & mono, a lens with stabilization. I don't like using them, but I have to for a lot of my interests in live talent. Thanks for your good work.

      Thanks, certainly agree that we all need to adapt. Just considering some adaptions of my own at the minute. For years I have had the viewfinder set up for my eyes but am just considering setting it to when I am wearing glasses because I can't see the LCD these days without glasses (only from a couple of metres away!😂) All the best👍

    I bought it recently, now 2 years later, very affordable, yet still pro level photo's. Still taking my time to get used to it as I didn't do any photography for several years.

      It's a great camera and is proficient at most disciplines. For me its always going to be my ability that holds me back rather than cameras at this price level.👌👍

    I have been using Sony a6400 for last 6 months. For stills, it's ok. But for video, it is quite difficult for auto focus and particularly when subject is moving. Low light capabilities is also not so good .

    • @scotttilleyphotography
      @scotttilleyphotography 2 месяца назад

      Hi, I don't have any difficulty for filming with it in low light but I agree that with most cameras of this age the autofocus in video is not up to the same level as for stills photography. I tend to manual focus some of the time for this reason. 👍

    I buying the Sony a6400 for my first camera because I want to start videoing my wild life hunts.. my concern is what lens to go with. Something that will be great from 0-300ft with great footage with being blurry?

    • @scotttilleyphotography
      @scotttilleyphotography 2 месяца назад

      The A6400 is a great camera. Any lens such as the Tamron 150-600, Sigma 150-600, Sigma 100-400 or Sony 200-600 will work great as long as they are used on the correct settings.👍

      @@scotttilleyphotography how are these lens that you suggest for low light in the woods? I see some RUclips hunting videos that there afternoon videos or early morning videos are blurry and pixelated? I’m trying to avoid that. My camera is coming with a Sony 28-70mm zoom
